Megan Meier: Nov. 6, 1992 - Oct. 17, 2006

Megan Meier was a 13-year-old girl who resided in Dardenne Prairie, Missouri, with her mother, father and younger sister. Megan was under the care of a psychiatrist for attention deficit disorder and depression.

She suffered from self-esteem issues regarding her weight. However, people often described Megan as bubbly, goofy and happy. When Megan opened a Myspace account, she received a message from a 16-year-old boy named "Josh Evans." Megan enjoyed talking to "Josh" online even though she never met him in person or talked to him on the phone.

The account under "Josh Evans" was actually fake. It had been created by Lori Drew, the mother of Sarah Drew, who had had a falling out with Megan. The Meirs and the Drews were also neighbors at the time the fake account was created. Lori Drew created the account to gain information about Megan to use later to humiliate her and seek revenge. According to sources, Megan allegedly spread gossip about Sarah Drew. The day before Megan's suicide, she had received a message from "Josh" that told her he didn't know if they could be friends because she was not nice to her friends. His last known message sent to Megan read "Everybody in O'Fallon knows who you are. You are a bad person and everybody hates you. Have a shitty rest of your life. The world be a better place without you."

Megan's last response to Josh was "You’re the kind of boy a girl would kill herself over." She was found 20 minutes later hanging in her closet by a belt. Despite efforts to revive her, Megan was declared dead on Oct. 17, 2006.
